I know it’s Friday and everyone’s ready for this weekend, but I am still processing last weekend.
Oscar countdown, Producers Guild Awards, SAG Awards, Annual award season parties, after parties, Daisy Jones & the Six press tour, premiere, and ALBUM, new Succession Trailer, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks, Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber Drama…
Friday night was the annual W Magazine Best Performances party at the legendary Chateau Marmont. EVERYONE was there. Everyone except for me who was cooking a cute dinner with my husband. I’m not saying I have a BAD life, I’m just saying it would be BETTER if I was partying the night away at Chateau Marmont with the White Lotus cast. They, unsurprisingly, have been my favorite people in Hollywood. They are soaking up their fame and enjoying every damn minute of it. We only have one more awards show where they will be nominated - the Emmys in September. Because Jennifer Coolidge’s storyline carries over from S1, the show is moving from the ‘Anthology Series’ categories to straight drama where it will be up against some inevitably stacked lineups (including the zombie show that I don't acknowledge yet) so let’s enjoy these photos of them as winners while we can.
PS I saw a blind that one cast member was supplying the whole gang with some ~party favors~ *wink* all weekend long. Review the attached materials and guess who you think it was in the comments.
The Daisy Jones and the Six PR team was definitely taking notes on the White Lotus cast because their press tour kicked off and it’s giving very similar energy in the absolute best way. They’re on their way, actually already there now that I’ve watched the first 3 episodes and streamed the album, to my top obsession. This is no surprise given my taste in music.
Suki Waterhouse has always been on my cool girl crush radar but she’s #1 idol at the moment. Should I get bangs?! Thank GOD Camilla Morone and Leo broke up. She and those lips are about to SKYROCKET. Have also loved Riley for a while as I have a long time personal obsession with her stylist, but dear Lord grandpa Elvis, sheesh! She’s incredible.
I’m all in on the girls, but not fully there yet on the guys. Thomas Doherty should’ve played Billy Dunne, but I appreciate his commitment to the future overall deal he’s making with tricia’s tomatoes studios. In some scenes Sam Clafin looks like the beta version of Milo Ventimiglia LOL. More to come while ‘Honeycomb’ plays on repeat.
Anyway, back to last weekend!
Saturday night was the Producers Guild Awards and wow this was action packed as well!
Mindy Kaling received an achievement in television award and BJ Novak presented her with the honor. 👩❤️👨 👀 If you ship these two take some time out of your slow Friday afternoon to watch their touching and funny speeches, especially because BJ references their “toxic, boundary-less mess” of a history.
Everyone wonders whether BJ is the father of Mindy’s two children as she’s famously never revealed the identity. I’ve never gone on the record about this, but I do NOT think he is the biological father. I honestly think she went to a sperm bank and picked out someone better looking, but made BJ, her closest friend, the Godfather. The best of both worlds - better looks but with great personalities influencing their upbringing.
I’m not going to talk about the O word here. Read this week’s NYMag article about it. Mindy looks great and seems very, very happy. Not to keep referencing blinds, but if it’s true she hosted injection parties at her LA mansion then I’m disappointed my invite was lost in the mail. JK...(not at all)
Tom Cruise was also honored. I know one of my readers is a Tom Cruise superfan so I shall direct him to his speech. I myself have a bit of a complicated relationship with Mr. Mission Impossible. I mean the man is a living legend, incredibly humble and hardworking, but the scientology shit and jumping on the couch on Oprah... people don’t forget, Tom. A fun fact I recently learned about TC that makes me like him more is every December he sends all of his friends, literally TONS of celebrities, this iconic Coconut Bundt Cake from a local LA bakery. Tom, if you’re reading this, if I get on the cake list I’ll never bring the Katie Holmes era up again. In the meantime I’m definitely ordering one off Goldbelly for the Oscars.
A bender of a weekend ended with the SAG Awards Sunday night! This might be my new favorite award show! It was so emotional! It honors both TV and Movie stars, opens with various actors telling a little origin story saying “I am an Actor”, and there’s great speeches about the early beginnings of everyone’s career. It’s cheesy as hell and I LOVE IT! There was so much grateful, appreciative energy as the stars were honored by their peers and friends. I’d sincerely trade a lot in my life to be nominated for any of these awards so when everyone shared the same “keep going you’ll be up here one day” sentiment in their speeches I FELT THAT!!!!!!!! AND the Red Carpet looks went so GD hard! Everyone looked AMAZING!
I’ll save my thoughts on the SAG winners for my official Oscar predictions. EVERY acting category is like Pennsylvania on Election night in 2020, too close to call!!! My team and I have our work cut out for us as we align on our final predictions.
In no particular order, here are a few things from the SAGS I’m still thinking about.
First off, It was a big night for bobs and I'm thrilled to be on the right side of this trend. A curly bob at a black tie event????? You’re welcome Hollywood!
Zendaya. PERIODT.
My only complaint is that she changed too quickly. The Valentino rosette gown is EVERYTHING. I deeply believe if anyone else wore her second Armani look we’d be saying it was a BCBG Prom Dress.
This tender moment between Jessica Chastain and my Irish lover Paul Mescal.
She is literally a Disney princess in the best way. I LOVE her. She performed on Broadway Saturday night and accepted a SAG award less than 24 hours later. That my friends is booked and busy. She is not only one of the hardest working actresses lately, but also seems so kind and gracious. She shared a lovely story about Phillip Seymour Hoffman speaking at her college saying he looked forward to working with all of the acting students one day and connected it to the power of manifestation:
"I'm telling this story now because it reminds me of how powerful our mind is and that we are what our thoughts create. So I just wanna tell everyone who might be struggling at home, to all the actors that I get to meet: Keep going. You're one job away. I look forward to working with you. I'll see you on set. I love you."
why am I literally crying reading that LOL
Jennifer Coolidge’s headband. Chic as hell.
I saw some people online saying that her face looked weird like she had work done. Everyone is so annoying. She looks gorgeous and if she maybe got a laser or two in between award shows who cares!
Aubrey Plaza taking Amy Poehler as her date <3
BOBS! Just please call me the next time you two hit the Beverly Hills Hotel. Silver dollar pancakes in the Fountain Coffee Room on me!
Elizabeth Debicki in chartreuse velvet.
No further comments.
Amanda Seyfried’s best awards look.
MORE GREEN! my favorite color! And PRADUHHHHH!
My dream in-laws - Emily Blunt and John Krasinski.
Is it just me or do these two get better looking every time we see them. JESUS.
Lastly, a photo from the afterparty that every time I look at, I have a new question about.
What were these two talking about?!?! Is that a vodka soda or do we think just vodka on the rocks? Either way what # drink for Tobey? 10? Is there ANY life behind those eyes? Friday energy babes!
Oh and friendly reminder to watch Best Picture front runner Everything Everywhere All at Once if you haven’t yet! BIG WEEK NEXT WEEK!
Ciao!
